ABSTRACT
The present work. dea Is wi th the study of seven
bryozoan species collected from the Nile Delta
continental shelf. T~e th~mical analys1s of these
-sh~11s exhibited that there has been a ~se
relationship between the distributio[l of some elements
: – {Mg.’ Sr and B) and w~ter salinity. The low conte”t
of -Mg, Sr and Bin the she11 s -1 oca ted 1nfront of
the Rosetta .and Oamietta Nile mouths is -_ largely
-\Jue -to the low sa11nity, and vice versa with respect
. to those fa r from the same sectors. The pre-lence
– of t1n content in the examined species suggests the
>;’;’ild.s(Jrpt1:on of !hls element from the sea water. while
:’fe -may be h.rgel;y~xtracted .from the food supply.
