DETAI LED VARIATIONS IN MEAN TEMPERATURE AND HEAT CONTENT
OF SOME EGYPl’IAN LAKESM. A. SAID
National Institute of Oceanography & Fisheries, Kayet Bay,
Alexandria, Egypt.
ABSTRACT
Detailed variations in the mean temperature end heat
content were studied for SOlIe Egyptian lakes. The,e l.”
are: Maryut. Idku. Burullus. Manzalah, Port-Foued-and
Bardawll lagoon. The depth and vol~ development of a lake
..y have a considerable effect on ita temperature curve end
consequently on it. heat content. The bigger lakes (Bardewtl
and Manzaleh) with larger volune and greater .an depth
contain more heat (40,565 end 26,744 cal. an-2) throughout
the year. Cluster analysis illustrated that, Burullus end
Manzalah lakes are very close to each other; Idku lake, In
some extent, Is similar to them. Bardawil lagoon dose not
have any aimilarity with the other lekes.
