ABSTRACT
The present study investigates the biological parameters as
gonadosomatic index (CSI). ova diameter and fecundity of common
cmp. C”prinus carQiQ to detect the accuracy of the reproductive
season and to !mow its duration. The present results indicated that the
gonadosomatic index (CSI) increased gradually at the beginning of
FebrzlafT and reached its maximum value in Alarch to 9. -18. In A1ay.
the gonadosomatic index slowly decreased and reached its minimum
“aille in June to 0.987. The ova diameter Fillclllated in its percentage
and three diameter groups of ova appeared during the period (d’
prespaHning. Cvprinus carpio have a Sh0l1 spawning season which is
restricted betH’een April and A1ay. The highest mode appeared at ora
diameter r Omm during the period of prespawning and ~paH’11ing
season. The absolllle fecundity strong/~v correlated with length. ,..eight
and age. Also. the relati”e fecundity correlated with total length and
gave a strong correlation. On the other hand [he relative fecundiTy
lveakly con”elated with weight.
