ABSTRACT
Surge heights ofAlexandria coastal water were calculated by removing the
predicted tide levelfronl the observed sea level for four years period (1977
-1980), and denoted as the residuals, or surges.
Follr types ofresiduals were identifiedaccording to the four seasons ofthe
year ( Spring, Sunlnler, Autunl11 and Winter). The general characteristics of
these residuals were investigated as well as the nleteorological conditions
affecting thenl.
