ABSTRACT
Concentrations of Cu, Zn, Mn and Pb were determined in the tissues ofthe
muscles and liver ofthe Cichlidfresh waterfish species Oreochromis niloticus,
surviving at Lake Edku and Oreochromisauraeus surviving at Lake Mariut.
These metals were determined also in the same organs ofthe marine species
Sardinella aurita surviving in the Mediterranean at the coastal area near to
Alexandria province.
Correlation coeffiCients between the concentrations ofeach metal with both
the length and weight offish were calculated.
Zn, Cu and Mn concentrations in the muscle tissues exhibited positive
correlation with both length ana weight of fish in the case ofS. aurita. The
concentrations ofthese elements in the liver ofsuch fish species decreased with
the increase ofits length and weight.
Zn and Cu concentrations increased with the size and weight in the muscle
tissues of Oreochromis auraeus. The concentrations ofthese elements in the
liver ofsuchfish species exhibited negative correlation with both the length and
weight.
