ABSTRACT
The experimental applications of induced spawning on common
carp, Cyprinus carpio were carried out during the period of spawning
season by using different dose levels of human chorionic gonadotropin
(HCG) and the carp pituitary homogenate (CPH) to show the synthetic
activity ofthese hormones on ripening, ovulation and spawning, also to
clarify the critical period for hormonal treatment. The present results
indicated that the best dose levels that gave a higher nummber of
fertilized eggs was 2.5mg CPH per kg of body weight following 9
hours later with resolving injection with dose of 1000 IUHCG per Kg
of body weight. Also, the injected females with the suspension of
pituitary gland of common carp in primary and resolving injections
showed that the injected females with 2.0mg CPHlKg of body weight
followed by resolving injection with dose of 6mg of CPHlKg of body
weight gave good results and all the injected females were spawned
and giving the best quality and quantity of fertilized eggs and hatching
larvae. However, the third trial by using HCG exclusively for primary
and resolving injections gave weak results for the injected females with
lower doses and bad results with those injected with higher doses. In
the all experiments, the initial egg diameters before the primary
injection were excess than 600 micron. However, the mature and
transparent eggs were recorded to be more than 1mm in diameters.
