ABSTRACT
High Dam Lake is a tropical eutrophic empoundment in
upper Egypt. The Late drought period led to a pronouced
changes in chemical and microbioloical characteristics of
the reservoi r.
The physical and chemical changes as affected by droug~t
are described. Total bacterial counts at both 22 and 37 C
increased mainly in Sunmer and Autumn. On the other hand,
counts of asymbiotic nitrogen fixers decreased.
