ABSTRACT
Three groups (60 fishes each) ofOreochromis niloticus were used
to investigate the efficacy oforal and intraperitoneal vaccination with
a polyvalent vaccine prepared from A. hydrophila, A. sobria and
A. veronii against motile aeroinonas septicemia. Group (l) wasfed
with the bacterian ofa ratio of200 mg wet cellikg fish body weightfor
12 weeks dry after day at a ratio of5%feed offish body eight. Group
(2) was intraperitoneally (ilp) vaccinated with 0.1 ml containing 9×109
cellslml of the vaccine preparation at zero day and another booster
dose at lfh weeks. Group (3) remained as control.
Fish immunized either orally or intraperitoneallyllad-‘1 high level
of serum antibodies against A. hydrophita. A. sobria andA. veronii if
compared with controls throughout the experimental period (12
weeks).
At the beginning ofthe 4th, srh and 1t h weeks ofthe experiment; 10
fish from each group were collected, 5fish were challenged with 0.1
ml containing 7×107 cells of virulent strain of A. hydrophila and
another 5 fish were ilp challenged with 0.1 contain 7×107 cells ofhot
strain ofA. veronii.
