ABSTRACT
This study revealed that after the construction of the
Aswen High Dam. the catch of pelagfc ffshes specfally
sardfnes have been dropped frOll 481 of the total catch
frOll the south-eastern part of the Medfterranean Sea to
about 7S. At the present tfme. demersal fishes belongfng
to the famflfes ~ullfdae. Solefdae. ~ynodontfdae. Serranfdae
and Leogantfdae constitute the mafn bulk of the catch.
Among the above mentfoned families. representatfves of
family ~ull fdae constitute about 241 of the total catch.
It was also observed that maximum catches were obtafned
in summer and autumn. At small depths (10-50 meter) the
mafn part of the catch is represented by fishes aged IS years, therefore maximum catch is observed at small depth.
